Top 5 Tuesday - Movies

Kategori: Entertainment

Since I haven't posted something here for a few week I think it's time. Therefore i have started a new thing in this blog. Top 5 Tuesdays, brilliant idea? Well, I think so.

Since i'm a fan of great movies I think it's appropriate to list my top 5 favourite movies. Here goes:
5. Batman: The dark knight rises
The third and final film in Christopher Nolans astonishing Batman trilogy stands as the fifth best movie on my list. The movie starts out with a Bruce Wayne on decadence, a long way from the former Batman. But in regular order a new supervillian comes knocking on the door, in this movie, Bane, played by Tom Hardy, which forces Batman to return to his primer glory.

4. Titanic (1997)
Great movie with the Great Leonardo DiCaprio as main actor. Titanic is a heartsobbing story, revolving around the two characters Jack and Rose, played brilliantly by Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. The movie is truly breathtaking, not only because of the characters, the acting and the story, but also because of the beautiful special effects in this movie.

3. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (2003)
The Lord of the Rings trilogy by Peter Jackson stands, for me, as the best movie trilogy of all time. The trilogy starts out with a feast in the shire and evolves into a cruel story about the One and Only Ring. The third and last movie is the most exciting of the three, with epic fightscenes and fantastic characthers it makes the third best movie of all time on my list.

2. Django Unchained (2012)
The second to best movie on my list is from my favourite director Quentin Tarantiono. This western movie is one of the coolest movies i've ever seen. The acting is nothing short of amazing and with actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz and Jamie Foxx that might not be very surprising. The movie has a really great story, but the thing I will remember most about the movie is the soundtrack which in many ways helps this movie to attain a second place on my list.

1. Pulp Fiction (1994)

The number one on my list is for me unarguably the best movie ever. Yet another movie by Quentin Tarantio that is truly a masterpiece. Pulp fiction contains so many memorable quotes and amazing scenes that they are uncountable. With an astounding ensemble of actors this movie is the best ever to be done, and that's that. This is an has-to-watch movie i strongly recommend. Pulp fiction is my favourite movie by far, and most likely will be for a very long time.

England

Last week was a week full of experiences and memories. Five other students and I were in England together after we've been in an essay writing-competition. We did various interesting things on the trip. I am going to start off by writing about how we lived.

We lived on a bed & breakfast in Shrewsbury called The Old Station. Why is it called that, you might wonder? The answer to that question is that it used to be a railway station, and the railway was actually only literally one meter away from the wall. You also probably wonder if the trains didn't bother us, and guess what? They did. The place was however really nice and the couple owning the little B&B were awfully nice and humouristic. They sure did know how to entertain their guests. We only ate breakfast at this place but the breakfast was indeed incredibly satisfying. We got a meny and just crossed off everything we'd like to have in the morning. I ate toast, mushrooms, bacon and scrambled eggs. Heaven.

On the trip we did many things. For example, we went to the iron bridge. This is the first iron bridge in the world, and it was the start of the industrial revolution. Amazingly astonishing and beautiful. We also went to different elite schools, like Shrewsbury school and Adams Grammar School. These were very interesting to see. They all wear uniforms and are implausibly disciplined. It feels like you're in a movie when you walk through the corridor.
The last day we went to Oxford. We were going to look at the school as well as meet my brother who study there. We talked about school, ate good food, were shown around the city and had a nice time in general.

To summarize, the trip was great and we had a lot of fun. We learned a lot about history as well as about the culture and the language. England is extremely enjoyable but I prefer Sweden, all though I hope to return soon.

Once upon a time...

Kategori: General

It feels like a life time ago I put any effort into this, let's admit it, not so, at least anymore, engrossing  or fascinating blog. That is however going to change! I would say that before our autumn break, I was at least to a fair extent an avid blogger.
I guess I relaxed a bit too much during my time off and I haven't really got back on my feet since. I am looking for inspiration and to be honest I struggle to find something to write about which will elicit my dear readers to the degree I want it to.
My big passion in life is language. All languages enkindle me. I appreciate poems and I relish literature. My problem is however that I appreciate movies more than poems, and I relish football more than literature. My biggest wish is to madly fall in love in the world of books, but I don't know how.
Jane Austen once said:

"The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid.”

I know for a fact that I certainly am not intolerably stupid, thus I conclude that I just have not gotten my hands on a good enought novel yet. My search continues.

The thrill of gaming

Kategori: General

I have often been asked, Aron, why do you play World of Warcraft? And instead of looking back at the inquirer with despair I've decided to describe to you, the thrill of gaming.

As anything in life, you start at rock bottom. Zero experience, zero knowledge, you are at nothing, an unknown. Then slowly you start gathering intelligence and your skill level starts to elevate. Soon, you find yourself in a team with friends, known or unkown, nationally or internationally, male or female, gay or straigth, muslim or christian it doesn't matter. You all share one common goal that can only be achieved through excellent teamwork and effort. You find yourself working together for HOURS, trying to overcome that wretched obstacle and accomplishing goals. And that is why I play, to play side-by-side to some of the greatest players out there, trying to figure out problems under pressure, feeling the stress build up and when the puzzle finally is cracked the rewarding feeling is what keeps you going, on and on. However I do appreciate that this is not something for everyone, and I'm sure there are many amongst you who will agree and others who don't understand how one can succumb into such nonesense. To you I've got nothing to add but hope that you are able to see this from another point of view, for to me gaming is a passion, and being passionate, is vital.
